El valor de la Fisiocracia en su propio tiempo:
un análisis crítico
Resumen
El valor de la doctrina fisiocrática se analiza
desde un enfoque histórico-analítico que
considera tanto la realidad francesa de mitad
de siglo XVIII como el examen interno de la
doctrina. Partiendo de la contundente
oposición de los contemporáneos franceses, se
revisan críticamente las tres áreas del sistema
fisiocrático: el marco filosófico-político, el
análisis económico teórico y las máximas
principales del gobierno económico. Se
concluye que la fisiocracia junto a algunos
avances analíticos, diagnosticó
inadecuadamente la economía francesa,
incurrió en errores económicos relevantes y
propuso, en el marco político de un severo
“despotismo legal”, medidas inviables o
contraproducentes. Así pues, la valoración
que merece la economía política fisiocrática en
su propio tiempo dista mucho de ser positiva.

The value of Physiocracy in its own time:
a critical analysis
Abstract
The value of the physiocratic doctrine is
examined with an historical-analytical
approach that takes into account both the
French reality of the mid 18th century and the
internal consideration of the doctrine. Starting
from the overwhelming opposition of the
French contemporaries, the three areas of the
phyisiocrats’ system are critically reviewed:
the philosophical-political framework, the
theoretical economic analysis and the main
maxims of the economic government. We
conclude that Physiocracy, together with
presenting some analytical advances,
diagnosed the French economy inadequately,
incurred in outstanding economic errors and
proposed, within the political framework of
severe “legal despotism”, unfeasible or
counterproductive measures. The valuation
deserved by phyisiocratic political economy
in its own time is, therefore, far from being
positive.
