Applicants Sought for Editor of the Journal of Management History
Emerald Group Publishing Limited invites nominations for the position of editor or co-editors of the Journal of Management History (JMH) to take over responsibility from the beginning of the 2012 volume. The official term is for five years, with a possible reappointment after this term.
Scope of JMH
JMH is published four times a year by Emerald Group Publishing Limited. Now in volume 17, the journal reflects on the historical development of management concepts and practices, with a view to how they inform the present and shape what we are and what we do. The journal also concerns areas of study such as social-anthropological studies of organization, business history, accounting history, history as science, philosophy, fads and fashions in the practice of management and in management consulting (www.emeraldinsight.com/jmh.htm).
Qualification and requirements of candidates:
Qualified candidates will have a distinguished academic record of national/international repute. S/he will be an active management scholar, will hold the rank of associate or full professor, and will drive the Journal to further excellence and impact. Some of the key qualities sought for the position of editor or co-editors are an established record of scholarship in the field of Management History, excellent managerial skills to oversee the editorial cycle and meet deadlines; the ability to inspire an active editorial advisory board; along with an appreciation of JMH’s editorial objectives.
Major responsibilities include:
soliciting high quality manuscripts and assisting authors through the editorial process initial screening of submissions and the management of a double blind peer review process via the ScholarOne Manuscripts online submission system supplying journal issues to the Publisher, working within the agreed schedule working with and managing the contribution of the Editorial Advisory Board commission high quality, topical special issues advising Emerald on the direction and development of JMHcontribute to improving the journal’s position in citation indexes, rankings lists and studies promoting JMH to your networks and at conferences to encourage authorship and usage
The editor is primarily responsible for the generation and acceptance quality of articles in a timely manner, and Emerald is responsible for administrative matters after acceptance.
