• Call for Papers: Monday 2 – Tuesday 3 May 2011, Villa Barton by lake - Geneva
• Provisional title and short abstract: before 26th March
The seventh in this series of informal research workshops (previously held at the LSE in London) will be hosted by the Graduate Institute in Geneva. As before, the aim is the exchange of ideas, and the provision of feedback, on any aspect of the economic history of Sub-Saharan Africa. However, in Geneva the workshop will be slightly longer, starting at 14h00 on the Monday and ending at lunchtime on the Tuesday.
It will be based on participants committing themselves to read the papers in advance. The papers must be short: no more than 5,000 words (excluding
references, tables and diagrams) please. Presentations will be limited to 15 minutes to allow enough time for discussion.
Offers of papers are welcome from advanced PhD students and faculty. There is a limited budget for financial assistance with accommodation and travel for those who need it (within train/cheap airline range, within Europe). To
propose a paper, please send a provisional title and short abstract to
gareth.austin graduateinstitute.ch before 26th March.
A programme willfollow, organised around whatever themes emerge most prominently from the offers of papers. We look forward to welcoming Africanists and comparativistsfrom various disciplinary backgrounds to the Villa Barton by lake Geneva. |
