Call for papers:
The Federal Reserve's centennial is approaching and we anticipate much
oratory, books, conferences, and papers singing its praises. Perhaps
this praise is warranted; perhaps it is not. The purpose of this
conference is to examine whether or not such praise is truly warranted.
We invite scholars to present papers that support and/or contradict the
conference title’s assertion by carefully examining the historical record.
Please send paper proposals to Robert Whaples, whaples wfu.edu or John Wood, jw wfu.edu by
August 15. Include a brief c.v. and an abstract of the paper you propose
to present.
Conference funding comes from the BB&T Center for the Study of
Capitalism at Wake Forest University. Funding will cover transportation,
lodging and meals for participants.
These invited scholars have agreed to present papers:
Dan Hammond (WFU)
Jeffrey Miron (Harvard)
George Selgin (University of Georgia)
Richard Sylla (NYU)
Lawrence White (George Mason)
We aim to have the papers published by a well-respected academic press.
