15h Management and Accounting History Conference
Publicado el 21-10-09.
Since its inauguration in 1995, the French Accounting and Management History Conference has been a key annual meeting for those who are interested in the history of management. Since that first meeting it has been a mechanism for bringing together those researchers in accounting, management, history, sociology, law and economics who are convinced that the past can reveal important (and unexpected) lessons and has much to teach us.
In the 15th conference we would like to extend further this multidisciplinary tradition. As in previous years, all communications concerning the history of management will be welcome. However, we would like to suggest the following topic as a means for reinforcing the coherence of our exchanges during the conference:
The structuration of economy and society through management tools
This topic aims at studying how management tools can shape society as a whole: not only companies, but also the State, public agencies, associations, etc. This theme is designed to encourage us to think about the links between the political and management fields. Both management tools and accounting standards have a strong influence on the political field (and vice versa). These issues are at the centre of our topic.
The concept of management tools should be understood in the broadest sense: from accounting and financial tools through to human resources, strategy and marketing. More generally, the concept includes any system of measurement, quantification or comparison.
