The School of Business, Economics and Law is publishing a position for an

Economic History.
Duties:
This position will involve 50% research and 50% teaching, primarily in
economic history. The duties include independently developing research within
a field that attaches to the research taking place at the Department (see http://www.ekonomisk-historia.handels.gu.se/english/?languageId=100001&contentId=-1&disableRedirect=true&returnUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ekonomisk-historia.handels.gu.se%2F) actively seeking for research grants from external funding agencies, as well

Eligibility:
Anyone who has completed a doctorate in economic history or similar may be

of the application period. Applicants who have completed their doctorate
sooner will be considered if there are special reasons for doing so (1.2.1.
Appointments procedure at GU E 5 4898/10).
Basis for assessment:
Scientific proficiency will be the most important criterion in assessing the
applicant's qualifications. Publication in journals and by publishers with an
international peer-review system is highly meriting, and so is experience
from international cooperation and participation in research networks.
Pedagogical proficiency will, after scientific proficiency, be regarded as
the second most important assessment criterion. When assessing the
pedagogical proficiency special weight should be given to the ability to
implement, lead and plan education.
Administrative experience, ability to develop and manage the operations and
personnel as well as ability to interact with the surrounding society and to
inform about research and development will then be considered.
Cooperation skills will also be taken into consideration when making the
appointment.
Personal circumstances (such as parental leave) specified in connection with
the account of merits and experience, are considered in the appraisal of
merits and are.
Other information:
The appointment is a full-time position, with a time limit of two years. At
the end of this time, there will be an opportunity for promotion to senior
lecturer if the successful candidate is authorised to accept such a position
and is also deemed suitable for this through appraisal in accordance with the
grounds for assessment laid down by the university for employment in the
position of senior lecturer (4.2. Appointments procedure at GU E 5 4898/10).
The Faculty Board of the School of Business, Economics and Law has decided
(2008-12-18), for promotion from associate senior lecturer to senior lecturer
the applicant should have achieved higher competence in the subject area for
both scientific and teaching qualifications, and also demonstrated the
ability to combine research and teaching and to be active as a researching
teacher. The applicant should have attained the skills necessary to teach
both at the basic and advanced levels.
Applicants who lack higher education teacher training are expected to undergo
such or otherwise obtain the equivalent.
The salary will be set specifically for the individual.
The University promotes equality and diversity. Most of the lecturers at the
Department of Economic History are male, and so we would be very pleased to
receive applications from women.
